Boho Maximalism Meets Shamanic Art: A New Era of Sacred Art Collecting

A fervent spiritual seeker and art collector, let's call her Leah (name changed for privacy), recently told me she used to collect art that “matched the furniture.” She was influenced by the Millennial beige that was the aesthetic of early 2020, and somehow her whole flat followed that direction. Beige walls, beige clothes, beige IKEA art. "It was like I woke up" she told me, "...like a rebirth". She had recently spent a lot more time meditating, out with Mother Nature and simply felt a call back to vibrance and colour.

Which makes sense - humans evolved alongside colour. Shamans and Animists world over knew the verdent green of trees, the blue of oceans, and the rainbow feathers of power animals like Parrots and Bluejays. So, in coming into this revelation, she brought home a piece that, she tells me, made her ugly cry. "It doesn't match a single thing" she let me know. But the outpour of emotion came from the fact that it made her feel held, and realise how much she had shrunk herself in life, just to fit in- That was the shift-

She hadn't realised how sterile her life had become and the BEIGE was just an extension of that!

There’s a growing movement among art collectors to seek out pieces that hold more than aesthetic appeal and luckily, Shamanic art speaks to that need. It does so, because it carries energy. It becomes part of a space in ways that stretch beyond visual pleasure. Shamanic art, is art chosen for its presence, deep symbolism and Spirituality before it is chosen for how well it goes with a grey sofa. The kind of work that supports healing, spiritual connection, and conscious living.

Shamanic art is becoming central to the way modern collectors approach their homes. I believe this is because more of the Spiritually inclined are seeing their homes sanctuaries to evolve in.

As we collectively move away from churches, and into our homes with our own altars, burning out own frankincense, and finding out own connection to the Divine, the home naturally begins to fill this void. And of course, spiritual art plays a vital role in shaping the energy of these reclaimed spaces.

What Is Shamanic Art?

Shamanic art is spiritual art created through ritual, intention, and deep relationship with the unseen. It often involves trance, ceremony, connection to nature, ancestral wisdom, and energetic channelling. It’s not always representational. It often doesn’t follow trends. But it always carries a spiritual coding that can be felt. Rather than art made to match a sofa, this is art made to meet humans. Shamanic art supports healing by holding frequencies that speak directly to the subconscious, the body, and the spirit.

Why Collectors Are Drawn to Spiritual Art?

More people are recognising that art has a role to play in their healing. The right piece can transform the energy of a room. It can serve as a daily anchor, a reminder of intention, or a symbol of personal transformation. Spiritual art can hold grief, joy, expansion, and remembrance all at once.

Shamanic art goes further.

Created in sacred space, it becomes a living ally on a healing journey. This is what spiritually aware collectors are beginning to understand and choosing art is choosing energy. It's choosing whether to have a piece in the bedroom that encourages dreaming among the ancestors, or choosing an energising and enlivening piece for the living room.

The Rise of Boho Maximalism in Spiritual Homes- The spiritual home doesn’t have to be pale or pared back!

And I'm so glad more people are realising this. Boho maximalism honours richness. It allows colour, eclectic layering, and symbolism to coexist. For those walking a conscious path, it becomes a way to reflect the inner journey in the outer space.

Shamanic art thrives in this environment. Its boldness, depth, and energy speak clearly within these layered homes. When placed with intention, it becomes part of a larger sacred ecosystem alongside plants, ritual tools, textures, and sensory elements. Collectors who lean toward boho maximalism often value intuitive living. They want their space to hold meaning. Shamanic art helps to root that meaning into the physical.

What to Look for When Choosing Shamanic Art

Choosing spiritual art is not just about style. It’s about resonance. Ask yourself: Does this piece feel energetically aligned with what I’m calling in? Is there a story or ritual behind the creation that adds to its power? Do I feel different when I stand in front of it? Shamanic art often creates a felt response. You don’t need to explain it. You’ll know. It’s worth learning about the artist’s process. Was the work created within a healing context? Were spirits, symbols, or elements consciously invoked? When spiritual art is made with intention, it holds integrity. And that integrity travels with the work into your home.

What energies are you calling into your home? Shamanic Art will pull those energies in.

A Taste of My Shamanic Art Work

My own work lives within the world of Shamanic art and maximalist expression. I don’t separate my healing practice from my artmaking.

Each piece is created in ritual. I work with plant allies, ancestral guidance, and spiritual archetypes. I create in sacred space, and I let the work speak through me. The art I create holds and alchemises energy. It carries intention into every layer of colour and symbol.

Many collectors tell me the work feels like a companion or a sacred mirror. Sometimes it awakens something. Sometimes it puts things to rest. Always, it’s active.

If you are creating a space for healing and spiritual growth, I invite you to explore the collection. These pieces are made for those who live intentionally.

For women who honour ritual. For homes that want to feel like sacred space.
